Just A Moment Of Panic

I'm a night shower. Morning showers never understood this habit, it throws them for a loop.
Anyways, I'm was showering with the radio on at night and all of the sudden I heard whistling over the music. My instant reaction "Who's there?! Someone in the room!" Panic!
This was my initial conclusion.

Then I realize it was just music...

Toughen Up Liver!

My free summer has lead me to Seattle. I'm visiting a friend here and continue my tour of the other side of the country. This is my first time visiting this city.

I'm in no state to write a full blog, as I'm currently laying on the couch nursing my hang over.

My liver received a shock of alcohol. As gloomy as Seattle is right now, the light is still so bright...

Futuristic Oral hygiene!?

I'm out visiting my sister. I didn't bring my tooth brush on this trip because she's a dentist and I love free samples.

This is what she handed me.

Talk about triple treat; 1) its a tooth brush 2) it lights up 3) and has a suction cup. This beats my boring home tooth brush. If I'm ever in the need to scale a wall of a night club after dinner, I'm all set!

Also it can do this. Yes, I'm a baller.

Ps. You might say to yourself, "where are you staying while you're at your sister's?" Good question. I'm crashing in my niece's  butterfly garden room. I repeat, "Baller!"

It's Mental AND Physical

This is my current metal state.
And this is my current physical state.
Neither state is communicating with each other...otherwise, I could be doing this.

Movie Monday: Would You Rather

"Would You Rather" The old game we've all played, but this film version the stakes are a bit higher. I found out about this film when I was browsing around Barns and Noble's New DVD releases. The catchy name and the synopsis caught my attention.

What would you do if a millionaire offered you a chance to solve all your life s problems? After the tragic death of her parents, Iris (Brittany Snow, Pitch Perfect) is desperate to make ends meet while caring for her terminally ill younger brother. When seemingly philanthropic aristocrat Shepard Lambrick (Jeffrey Combs, Re-Animator) expresses an interest in helping them by inviting her to an exclusive dinner party that offers the chance at untold riches, Iris finds herself in a group of similarly desperate individuals all looking to make some easy money...WOULD YOU RATHER is an edge of your seat horror thriller that invites you over for a quiet evening of murder.

I was hooked. These types of movies hooks me in like a free meal at Old Country Buffet.

The first half an hour was good. The set up to the movie was executed flawlessly, but after that, it just unravels. The movie becomes a combination of the movie Clue and Saw. It no longer kept me intrigued since the "dares" turned repetitive as it cycled through the players. As a seasoned horror/suspense film addict, I predicted the ending and nailed it.

I can't say the acting was great (aside from Jeffery Combs'). The main actress/heroine faded away as all her lines in the movie receded to screams, moans, and mascara running down her face.
You can't say your lines if your mouth is covering your face.
Did you ever see an actor/actress that made you wonder, "why isn't this person in more things?" Well that's how I feel about Jeffery Combs. He brings all his characters to life. I believe it's because of his unique voice. He has a good range, it can be meek like a muskrat to a commanding lion. Maybe that's why his credit has a lot of voice over work too.
But my favorite character of his, is Wayoun on Star Trek: DS9. He was a bad ass villain; annoying and he made you hate him!
Best gif that captures his subtle range of acting
Did you know he was in the Frighteners? I just put that puzzle together...That was a GREAT movie and he played a nightmarish creep.
Heebie jeebies...
Lastly, they left out the backbone of a story the "Why". Why this game? What was the meaning to the madness? If they explained it, I missed it.

I would recommend this movie if you really had no other scary/horror flick to watch. Or if you really like Jeffery Combs, which I did and I think he could have done better...

Welcome back Happy

Another weekend has past in this "Summer of Bobby". I look back on it now and this odd feeling of joy and contentment creeps up on me. The carefree weeks, revisiting old friends, comfort within my solitude, the afternoon breezed. I'm slowly getting back to being happy. As much as that line sounds like something from  a menopause commercial, it's a similar comparison. "Happy" was feeling that faded away due to work being so...the only word I can equate the past 6 months of work was "ridiculous".

New chapter, new story!

My first MN friend, who later became a pretty good roommate, came back to Minneapolis for the Aquatennial. The girl loves her some fireworks. Though I wasn't able to see her too much, the time was spent laughing and catching up.

I drove up to Duluth for the day, today. The purpose was a bit more heavy hearted, but turned into a beautiful send-off to a great man who was such an important person to many people including being a terrific father to one of my close friend.

As the ceremony concluded, I said goodbye to my friends and took advantage of my solo drive to Duluth. The weather was perfect. The sun pelted it's heat down but the continuous breeze balanced it out. I didn't know where to start my journey into Duluth, so I did what my dad always thought me if I were to ever get lost, "follow the water". So I found Lake Superior and just walked beside it. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate Mr. O'neil than to explore a part of his community.
I do love a good statue...
Dinner on the coast of Lake Superior, couldn't have been better
This bird was checking me and my sandwich out.
I found the Queen of Heart's Rose Garden
High Fives
Why not a meditating panda? No brainer
Oh, and a unexpected trip to a gas station, led me to this gem of a landmark!

On the drive back to Minneapolis, the moon came out. Does it not look like the Death Star?! "IT'S A TRAP!"
