The Summer of Bobby has officially begun!
Goodbye cube desk, power point handouts, and florecent
lighting. I'm trading it up for outdoors, sunlight, and sleeping in. I'm leaving the corporate world to enjoy my summer, recharge, and achieve some dreams I've put on the back burner. Some have coined this departure as my retirement, a sabbatical, and a pre-pre mid-life crisis. It's all of it.
The day started like any other Friday at work, a 1hr team meeting. The
only difference, was that it was my last Packaging Team meeting! It was a
day of finalization, where I would walk away from the culture, politics
and stresses of the Corporate World that I’ve been living and breathing
in for the past 8 years.
The last work day should have ended at 2pm, but sadly wrapping up things for the next backfill took
longer to set up rather than just finishing it up myself! Well 4:45pm rolled
around and I was finally packed and marching out the door! Wa-Hoo!
I
wasn't able to really take in the moment that I should have just let
wash over me, but I was late to meet a friend who was here visiting the
city and then running off to the next event!
Jenny and Brian's Pre-Wedding Celebration!
It was great times meeting both sides of the family, reacquainting with familiar faces, and eating great food truck food!
After
stuffing my face with food, cookies the size of pancakes, and chatting it
up with some of the family members, we all disbanded to head back and
rest for the next day's onslaught that would be an emotional celebration of two
families becoming one. Followed by me dancing like I don't give a sh*t.
Well,
I wasn't done celebrating this MOMENTOUS DAY. I met some friends out for a drink and
ended the night properly with a Gin and Tonic, with two limes.
