Futuristic Oral hygiene!?

I'm out visiting my sister. I didn't bring my tooth brush on this trip because she's a dentist and I love free samples.

This is what she handed me.

Talk about triple treat; 1) its a tooth brush 2) it lights up 3) and has a suction cup. This beats my boring home tooth brush. If I'm ever in the need to scale a wall of a night club after dinner, I'm all set!

Also it can do this. Yes, I'm a baller.

Ps. You might say to yourself, "where are you staying while you're at your sister's?" Good question. I'm crashing in my niece's  butterfly garden room. I repeat, "Baller!"

It's Mental AND Physical

This is my current metal state.
And this is my current physical state.
Neither state is communicating with each other...otherwise, I could be doing this.

Movie Monday: Would You Rather

"Would You Rather" The old game we've all played, but this film version the stakes are a bit higher. I found out about this film when I was browsing around Barns and Noble's New DVD releases. The catchy name and the synopsis caught my attention.

What would you do if a millionaire offered you a chance to solve all your life s problems? After the tragic death of her parents, Iris (Brittany Snow, Pitch Perfect) is desperate to make ends meet while caring for her terminally ill younger brother. When seemingly philanthropic aristocrat Shepard Lambrick (Jeffrey Combs, Re-Animator) expresses an interest in helping them by inviting her to an exclusive dinner party that offers the chance at untold riches, Iris finds herself in a group of similarly desperate individuals all looking to make some easy money...WOULD YOU RATHER is an edge of your seat horror thriller that invites you over for a quiet evening of murder.

I was hooked. These types of movies hooks me in like a free meal at Old Country Buffet.

The first half an hour was good. The set up to the movie was executed flawlessly, but after that, it just unravels. The movie becomes a combination of the movie Clue and Saw. It no longer kept me intrigued since the "dares" turned repetitive as it cycled through the players. As a seasoned horror/suspense film addict, I predicted the ending and nailed it.

I can't say the acting was great (aside from Jeffery Combs'). The main actress/heroine faded away as all her lines in the movie receded to screams, moans, and mascara running down her face.
You can't say your lines if your mouth is covering your face.
Did you ever see an actor/actress that made you wonder, "why isn't this person in more things?" Well that's how I feel about Jeffery Combs. He brings all his characters to life. I believe it's because of his unique voice. He has a good range, it can be meek like a muskrat to a commanding lion. Maybe that's why his credit has a lot of voice over work too.
But my favorite character of his, is Wayoun on Star Trek: DS9. He was a bad ass villain; annoying and he made you hate him!
Best gif that captures his subtle range of acting
Did you know he was in the Frighteners? I just put that puzzle together...That was a GREAT movie and he played a nightmarish creep.
Heebie jeebies...
Lastly, they left out the backbone of a story the "Why". Why this game? What was the meaning to the madness? If they explained it, I missed it.

I would recommend this movie if you really had no other scary/horror flick to watch. Or if you really like Jeffery Combs, which I did and I think he could have done better...

Welcome back Happy

Another weekend has past in this "Summer of Bobby". I look back on it now and this odd feeling of joy and contentment creeps up on me. The carefree weeks, revisiting old friends, comfort within my solitude, the afternoon breezed. I'm slowly getting back to being happy. As much as that line sounds like something from  a menopause commercial, it's a similar comparison. "Happy" was feeling that faded away due to work being so...the only word I can equate the past 6 months of work was "ridiculous".

New chapter, new story!

My first MN friend, who later became a pretty good roommate, came back to Minneapolis for the Aquatennial. The girl loves her some fireworks. Though I wasn't able to see her too much, the time was spent laughing and catching up.

I drove up to Duluth for the day, today. The purpose was a bit more heavy hearted, but turned into a beautiful send-off to a great man who was such an important person to many people including being a terrific father to one of my close friend.

As the ceremony concluded, I said goodbye to my friends and took advantage of my solo drive to Duluth. The weather was perfect. The sun pelted it's heat down but the continuous breeze balanced it out. I didn't know where to start my journey into Duluth, so I did what my dad always thought me if I were to ever get lost, "follow the water". So I found Lake Superior and just walked beside it. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate Mr. O'neil than to explore a part of his community.
I do love a good statue...
Dinner on the coast of Lake Superior, couldn't have been better
This bird was checking me and my sandwich out.
I found the Queen of Heart's Rose Garden
High Fives
Why not a meditating panda? No brainer
Oh, and a unexpected trip to a gas station, led me to this gem of a landmark!

On the drive back to Minneapolis, the moon came out. Does it not look like the Death Star?! "IT'S A TRAP!"

Ahhhhhhh

My arms are being ravaged by eczema!

And these "natural" remedies aren't working! Damn these hippie nonsense!

I haven't had eczema in a long time, probably since I was in college or when I lived in TN. I think it came back because I'm outside more and no longer locked in a climate controlled cube.

Oh the sweet feeling of scratching an itch!

Movie Monday: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

I heard about this film a while back. It was realeast in 2012 and received raved reviews from across the pond. The actors were well known seasoned British actors who all carried their own weight in the film.
With so many charactors, the film did a good job at dividing up the screen time. The story interwove everyone's chactor's story lines together.

My only issue was this Ding Dong. Dev Patel.

His character annoyed me. He definitely knew how to cheese ball it up when the scene called for it. However, his character produced some transcendent one liners.

Regardless, of that cheese ball, the film threw me in for a loop with casting the actors in roles I don't traditionally see them in.

Judy Dench, the narriator with the soothing voice, mostly plays the Alpha B*tch role in big budget films. She was much softer and vulnerable in this film.

Bill Nighly, has always been one of my favorite actors. This cool cat always played great villains. He took a 180 and was the faithful nice guy.

Lastly, Maggie Smith played an awful woman with very little redeming qualities, until the end. Her opening scene in the movie shocked me. The things she said! But then again, I've never seen Downton Abby, I heard she's quite mean in that too.

All in all, it was a good movie proving that when old people get together, it's still a party. This film would be best complemented with a good Indian dinner to round out the experience. And don't take anything to heart to what that crazy Maggie Smith is saying in in the first part of the movie.

I feel like Jello

I was out shopping and somehow randomly found myself staring in front of a 4 foot section of Jello products. It was a rainbow of colored boxes.

I haven't made or eaten jello in quite some time. Mostly because it reminded me of my Elementary School serving it us along with crumbly chicken nuggets. But for some odd reason, that shopping impulse ran through me and I picked up two boxes.

When I got home I made grape jello. 4 Hours later I had a bowl of blue berries suspended in purple gelatin! Yeeehawww!

It was good! I forgot how good it can be. I only had a few spoonfuls, but that was enough. I don't think I could eat a bowlful of jello without feeling like I was back at Spencer Elementary.
Not my pic, but my jello didn't come out like this...
Not me, but you can see the similarity
A little web searching and I found that there are a large population jello desert enthusiast.
http://jellomoldmistress.com/
This lady, a super enthusiast, calls herself the Jello Mold Mistress. How can you be a Mistress of Jello Molds? I'm sure there is some juicy back story to that name...

A Dose of Natural Vitaimin D

Today's weather was amazing. I had all my windows open in my house and suddenly felt the need to rush outside to enjoy it.

My first thought was to just sit outside of my house and read, but there have been construction going on at the end of my street for quite some time. Something about a swear main...(insert poop joke here).

So I decided to drive to Lake Harriet. I got dressed and grab my copy of Tina Fey's Bossy Pants and was out the door. As I was driving, I noticed how much hotter it was than my shaded porch. Those who know me, knows how I treat sunlight like I'm a vampire.

After I lathered up the SPF 100 in the car and I found a bench at the Rose garden area instead of the lake. I sat in the park and read a few chapters of Tina's book. Doesn't' that sound droll? I intentionally drove out 15min away to read a book! But I put it back in perspective, reading a book out in a park where there were mostly senior citizens and babies in strollers vs wearing a shirt and tie while stuck in a conference room with florescent lighting. I rather have a new posse of grandparents than rushing back to the office.
I took all non flower photos in the Rose Garden
This vs Office Cubical?
Cactus in Minnesota?!
No camera could have captured how awesome this looked in real life

Side note: I just saw the word "Cheeze Burger" and I have the insatiable urge to demolish a thick medium rare burger where the American cheese is goopy and melty...
