With so many charactors, the film did a good job at dividing up the screen time. The story interwove everyone's chactor's story lines together.
My only issue was this Ding Dong. Dev Patel.
His character annoyed me. He definitely knew how to cheese ball it up when the scene called for it. However, his character produced some transcendent one liners.
Regardless, of that cheese ball, the film threw me in for a loop with casting the actors in roles I don't traditionally see them in.
Judy Dench, the narriator with the soothing voice, mostly plays the Alpha B*tch role in big budget films. She was much softer and vulnerable in this film.
Bill Nighly, has always been one of my favorite actors. This cool cat always played great villains. He took a 180 and was the faithful nice guy.
Lastly, Maggie Smith played an awful woman with very little redeming qualities, until the end. Her opening scene in the movie shocked me. The things she said! But then again, I've never seen Downton Abby, I heard she's quite mean in that too.
I LOVE this film! We should go to India....one of my fav quotes is the one you mention...."everything will be allright in the end, so if it's not alright...it's not the end" what a great way to look at things! Good pick.
